Are custom and magnetic whiteboards recyclable?

The custom whiteboards that Magnetic Concepts sell are designed to last for 5-10 years or more, so there is not a lot of waste associated with having to frequently replace our whiteboards.  This is not the case with cheaply constructed whiteboards that can be found elsewhere.  The main materials in our custom whiteboards are a dry erase coated sheet of steel, a wooden backer, and aluminum framing.  The best way to reduce waste with a whiteboard is to reuse the whiteboard for a different purpose or give it to an organization that can use the whiteboard.

All of Magnetic Concepts whiteboards are magnetic whiteboards, so they may be used anywhere a magnetic receptive surface is needed.  Our custom whiteboards come with hanging hardware and could be painted or covered by fabric to make a new art installation instead of discarding them.  If this is not an option, you may remove the aluminum framing and chalk tray for recycling by a scrap metal dealer.  The rest of the whiteboard would be too labor-intensive to recycle, thus is not accepted at traditional recycling facilities, and must be discarded if it can no longer be used.  Although they are not recyclable, the two main materials we use in our custom whiteboards are steel and wood, both of which should decompose fairly quickly in a landfill.
